The Building of the Yak Shack
A project initiative was created in the town of St. Marys to establish a kayak sharing program through the St. Marys Library with the kayaks located at Milt Dunnell Field next to the Thames River. The structure needed was to be built. The original plan was to have it assembled by the DCVI High School shop class. But with schools closed to in person learning due to COVID-19 closures, the town needed to find another group to build the shack. The St. Marys Kinsmen Club was asked and accepted the challenge. Thank you to good Kin Wayne Barber for providing the club a safe outdoor location -at DFK Equipment- to build the structure. Thank you to all of the club members with building know-how and those with not so much know-how who helped out and made it happen.
